The architect comprehends and communicates the overall system architecture and interactions, and helps steer decision making to ensure that architecture evolves to meet the enterprise strategy. This role demands an influential candidate that can communicate to both IT and business representatives.


  • Align IT strategy with business objectives.
  • Improve the maturity of architecture across IT.
  • Define standards for software development, and train staff on architecture principles and reference architectures.

  • Institute architecture governance in the Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Assist teams identify future state visions and road maps in their respective areas.
  • Provide thought leadership and contribute to the firm's overall technology strategy.
  • Evaluate new technology, tools, and frameworks, build reference architectures, and lead the move toward it.
  • Interview and collaborate in order to identify enterprise needs.
  • Present to technology leaders and business executives.
  • Analyze performance and design inefficiencies.
  • Provide advice on solution design, costs, and expected benefits.
  • Liaison between solution stakeholders; question assumptions and drive change to mitigate potential risks.
  • Organize training for understanding and adopting technologies and best practices.
  • Ensure the safety and security of information systems; identify and address security threats.
  • Create and maintain conceptual, logical & physical models of IT systems.
  • Organize and manage architecture documentation.


Specific Technical Knowledge and Experience Required:


  • Strong understanding of the Enterprise Lifecycle and experience integrating Architecture and Governance into that lifecycle to steer towards desirable outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of agile software development methodology.
  • DevOps/DevSecOps and Continuous Delivery, specifically using Git, Docker and Jenkins.
  • Full stack development experience.
  • Experience with popular software development frameworks and services.
  • Exposure to emerging technologies; must understand them sufficiently to guide the organization in understanding and adopting them (when advantageous).
  • Experience managing architecture documentation, and standards, as well as training staff on architecture principles.
  • Experience with analyzing current state and conceiving desired future state, and identifying projects required to evolve.
  • Deep knowledge of Web Services (REST), Enterprise Messaging (JMS/MQ/AMQP), and Databases.
  • Experience writing code in Java.
  • Networking and security including load balancers, mesh routing, Web Application Firewalls, etc.; knowledge of the OWASP Top 10.
  • Experience applying Microservice architecture principles.


Specific Technical Knowledge and Experience Desired:

  • Capital Markets industry experience, especially in Asset Management
  • TOGAF certified.
  • Experience writing code in Scala, C#, Python, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with AWS and migrating systems to the cloud.
  • Experience with Apache Spark for solving Big Data problems.
  • Experience with Block chain, Machine Learning, or Robotic Process Automation.


Qualifications (minimum requirements):

  • College degree in Computing Science or Engineering required. Certifications highly desired.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an Architect role.
