Opportunity Details


The Client Service Executive (CSE) – Marketing will be responsible for coverage of a specific market region in the United States (e.g. west cost).  He/she will drive the business development effort, representing Western Asset’s short-term fixed income  products and investment advisory services.  This ideal individual will have a minimum of seven to ten years of experience as an institutional salesperson.  He/she will have demonstrated a successful track record marketing and selling liquidity/fixed income products to financial institutions.   The majority of the CSE’s time will be focused on new business development.  This person will be more than comfortable cold calling prospects, as well as developing and potentially bringing his/her own existing client relationships/assets to Western Asset. This individual will also have access to investment teams, when necessary, therefore need to be able to speak to and understand the technical aspects of the firm’s investment strategies and offerings.


  • New business development and existing client relationship management
    • Prospecting phone calls for new business is critical
    • Maintain consistent communication with prospects
    • In person business meetings, when appropriate
    • “Non-business” venue meetings, when appropriate
  • Represent Western Asset’s products/strategies effictively and credibly
  • Interact with investment teams, when appropriate; remain on top of investment product and market trends
  • Create strategy for marketplace including  the identification and prioritization of opportunities
  • Understand prospect’s investment needs, interests, and decision making process
  • Maintain cutting edge knowledge of liquidity/fixed income product trends
  • Contribute to the development of new sales and marketing initiatives and any new product development
  • Effective communication at all levels within the organization
  • Travel when client prospecting and servicing requires
  • Update WA client databases as necessary


  • A minimum of seven to ten years of institutional sales experience in the Liquidity channel
  • Ideal background would include prior experience at a top tier liquidity/fixed income investment management firm
  • A track record of effective and successful cash management client development
  • Phone prospecting is “second nature”; exceptional calling and communication skills are essential
  • Able to articulate and influence effectively
  • Credible spokesperson, representing an array of liquidity/fixed income products
  • Technical fluence and knowledge of liquidity/fixed income strategies and worldwide markets
  • Able to interact effectively with multiple internal constituencies: Client Service teams, investment professionals and various infrastructure support groups
  • Advanced degree and/or CFA preferred but not necessary
