Working in a team setting, The SOFTWARE Engineer is Responsible for the development of trading & Compliance business line applications .

As a software engineer on the IT Trading & Compliance team at Western Asset the Engineer will work in an Agile, collaborative environment to understand requirements, design, code and test complex applications. In addition the Engineer will support those applications for highly valued business users globally.

The Engineer will be required to use and become proficient in a variety of programming languages (Java, SQL, Python) delivering desktop & web based solutions.

The successful applicant will work with a variety of relational databases (Oracle, Sybase, MemSQL) and operating systems (Windows, Linux) that are the backbone of the Western Asset Management business.


  • Software development including design, implementation & testing
  • Systems support for the global Western Asset user community



  • Must have a basic understanding of software development and programming in a language such as Java, C, C++ or Python
  • Must be highly motivated and have a passion for creating and supporting new and innovative products
  • Should thrive on collaboration and working side by side with people of all backgrounds and disciplines
  • Should possess a strong desire to keep learning
  • Must possess very strong verbal and written communication skills
  • The ideal candidate is a true problem solver who excels at debugging, troubleshooting, designing and implementing solutions for complex technical issues
  • A General knowledge of databases is also required

Academic Qualifications (minimum requirements):

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Financial Engineering, Information Systems and/or Business Management
