Overview

The Business Reporting Associate will work within the Enterprise Data Management department as part of the Business Reporting Group.  This small functional team is primarily responsible for the calculation and dissemination of assets under management, gain/loss and asset flow related data. The team is also responsible for the data gathering and compilation of scorecards for both the client service executive teams and product management group; including critical reports utilized by senior management and our parent company Legg Mason. The Business Reporting Associate should be capable of completing ad-hoc analysis or small projects with relative independence, including coordination and communication with various departments but primarily focused on servicing our Client Service department.

Responsibilities

  • Produce internal management reports by manipulating large data sets in Microsoft Excel and using firm wide proprietary software.
  • Coordinate reports across departments (Investment Support, Compliance, Finance, Enterprise Risk).
  • Compile detailed performance scorecards for management.
  • Create detailed information packets for Client Service Executives to respond to inquiries and prepare for client meetings and conference calls.
  • Maintain the integrity of key data sets in the Client Reference Management (CRM) system.
  • Interact with consumers of data throughout the firm including Compliance, Operations, Risk and Investment staff; research and respond to questions about specific data, data sources, and/or procedures.
  • Understand the relative importance of different data sets; address routine data errors or omissions identified through controls and escalate more complex issues using sound judgment.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects, which may include product research, surveys, presentation preparation and competitor analysis.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access and SQL
  • Data Visualization Tool experience preferred. (e.g. Tableau)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, proactive, with the ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-pressure, team environment
  • 3 or more year’s related experience

 

Academic Qualifications (minimum requirements):


Undergraduate degree in Finance or a relevant field OR equivalent work experience.

Progress towards or completion of CFA a bonus.

Advanced degree preferred.
