  • Overview

    Based in Western Asset Management’s New York City office, and reporting to the Manager of International & New York Human Resources, this position is responsible for the delivery of HR strategy to the NY office while working in close collaboration with HR colleagues at headquarters. The NY Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) works as a consultative business partner to the Head of the NY office and senior managers and represents HR on the NY Management Committee. He/she also provides leadership to, and develops, a shared administrative resource and provides local leadership to two Office Services team members, who officially report to headquarters. This position participates in, supports, promotes and implements internal key HR initiatives in support of business strategy and objectives.


    • Meets routinely with respective business units, and identifies new business strategies
    • Adjusts HR strategies to respond to changing business needs and objectives
    • Partners with internal clients on organizational changes
    • Understands the business’ talent needs, creates a vision for talent strategy, and identifies issues before they impact the business
    • Sources talent for the NY office
    • Addresses the needs of the business and workforce by responding to manager and employee needs promptly
    • Designs HR programs to support organizational culture, and communicates organizational culture to employees
    • Communicates policies and procedures to employees
    • Keeps line managers updated on HR initiatives, leveraging trends in employee engagement
    • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues and conducts thorough and objective investigations



    Required job skills:


    • Highly proficient technical skills - Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, HRIS, Applicant Tracking, LMS, Performance Management, etc.
    • Strong multi-disciplinary HR expertise including compensation practices, organizational health, employee engagement, diversity & inclusion, and effective performance and talent management
    • Excellent and persuasive communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly both verbally and in writing
    • Ability to advise and coach managers and employees on complex issues, including disciplinary actions
    • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal employment laws and their application to the business
    • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities
    • Demonstrated strong professional relationship building skills

    Education and Experience:


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, HR, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred
    • A minimum of five years of significant, multi-disciplinary HR experience, preferably of partnering with, coaching and providing guidance at the Senior Manager/Director level
