  • Overview

    As a member of the IT Architecture – Development Tools team, The Software Engineer will help support and enhance a sophisticated DevOps Pipeline.

     

    As a Software Engineer on the IT Architecture - Development Tools team at Western Asset the Engineer will work with a group of talented architects and software engineers on establishing and supporting a suite of tools used in the software development, configuration management, packaging and continuous delivery process. Additionally, the Engineer will work closely with the Infrastructure and Operations team to ensure reliability and scalability of the CD infrastructure. 

     

    The Engineer will have a thorough understanding of the entire software development lifecycle, as well as familiarity with multiple development/scripting languages (Java, Python), relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server) and operating systems (Windows, Linux).

    Responsibilities

    • Review, analyze and recommend solutions and tools to improve the software development and deployment process.
    • Install, administer and support modern tools used in software development, configuration management, automated testing and continuous integration.
    • Develop and maintain scripts used by automated build, deployment and packaging systems.
    • Adopt and implement best practices, and champion an engineering culture emphasizing Agile, DevOps and CI/CD principles.

    Comptencies:

    • Must have a strong understanding of software development, packaging and deployment processes
    • Must have experience in software engineering, testing and delivery of enterprise applications
    • Must have hands on experience with modern configuration management and build tools (GitHub, Jenkins)
    • Must be familiar with Containers and Virtualization technologies (Docker, VM)
    • Should possess a strong desire to keep learning
    • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
    • The ideal candidate is a true problem solver who excels at troubleshooting, designing and implementing solutions for complex technical issues

    Desired attributes/skills:

    • Experience with cloud services platforms such as AWS or Azure
    • Exposure to languages like C#, Scala and Javascript
    • Familiarity with information security best practices
    • Interest in Finance

    Qualifications

    Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Financial Engineering, Information Systems and/or Business Management
