The Company desires to expand its existing client footprint in the UK and Continental European wealth management/retail marketplace.

     

    The Sales Executive is responsible for Business Development efforts within the EMEA Client Service and Marketing team based in London. This candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders as well as Legg Mason’s sales teams in the UK, Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, Benelux, Scandinavia and Spain, helping to promote Western Asset’s retail business development initiative. Ultimately, the candidate will grow the Company’s AUM (primarily but not exclusively in the WA subadvised Legg Mason Dublin UCITS and UK ICVC funds) by cultivating relationships with prospects, employing the Company’s consultative approach to investment solutions and ultimately demonstrating why the Company can add value to the prospect’s investment objectives.

     

    This position works under the direction of the Head of EMEA Client Service & Marketing, who is located in London.

    Responsibilities

    • Primary Goal: Raise AUM in Western Asset sub-advised funds and segregated mandates from UK and Continental European based investors in the wealth management/retail channel
    • Act as primary contact for clients related to the wealth management channel in the UK/European region.
    • Develop and implement structured business plan for the UK/European wealth management/retail channel.
    • Responsible for obtaining a thorough understanding of wealth management clients’ business and product lines as well as current investment allocation, strategies, etc.
    • Manage and strengthen the Company’s relationships with wealth management consultants.
    • Perform/coordinate presentations to existing clients for quarterly/annual reviews.
    • Organize and participate in client service investment communication meetings.
    • Coordinate and perform presentations to identified prospects.
    • Travel within UK and Continental Europe as required to meet with clients, consultants and prospects.
    • Responsible for reviewing and producing retail channel client communication (presentations, RFPs, questionnaires, reporting, client letters, strategy pages, etc.).
    • Communicate client information through internal contact database.
    • Mentor Client Service Associates.

    Qualifications

    • Five plus years of Portfolio Management and/or Client Services/Marketing experience with an emphasis on business development.
    • Excellent and persuasive communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly both verbally and in writing.
    • Strong knowledge of investment management industry, with a focus on fixed income.
    • Demonstrated teamwork skills that will allow the successful candidate to work effectively across a broad range of business functions, including the ability to work with Portfolio Managers and with employees in other offices.

    Academic Qualifications:

    • Undergraduate degree in related field.
    • Masters Degree/CFA certification a plus. Experience may offset academic requirements.
